Your newborn should have their first checkup within 5 days of delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the initial checkup, Dr. Smith or Dr. Madisa will schedule a 1-month appointment. Then they\u2019ll see your baby at least every 2 months up until they\u2019re 6 months old. After 6 months, we’d like to see your baby every 3 months up to 18 months old, and then we recommend annual visits until they are 18 years of age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During these visits, Dr. Smith or Dr. Madisa will perform the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– a complete physical examination
– take measurements
– assess development
– administer shots
– talk about health and safety
– answer any questions you have<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every wellness visit includes anticipatory guidance. This is advice about what\u2019s to come developmentally for your child and how to help keep the child healthy and safe between visits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
